From the farm

Rhyll Fishing Park has evolved! We are now known as "Rhyll Trout and Bush Tucker Farm."

Throughout 2009, we were busy planting twenty-two crops of native food plants, which produce all sorts of amazing fruits, flowers, seeds and aromatic leaves. The new "Bush Tucker Trail", 1200 metres long, winds through these crops as well as large areas of regenerated indigenous bushland. The high rainfall this year has established the plants beautifully and they are looking bigger and better every week.

Of course you can still catch a prize trout in the Trophy Lake and the Rainforest Pool, and Mary can still transform it into succulent baked trout or tempting tempura fish and chips.

Now while you wait for your fish to be prepared, grab a complimentary map and wander the Bush Tucker Trail through our new bush food plantation.
Be inspired by the huge variety of native bush foods which are relatively unknown to most people today.

Latest news from the farm is the new arrival of Molly, a very cute little border collie pup. Molly is learning to chase the cormorants off the fish ponds each morning and has become best of friends with our other collie, Macca. Have a look at the photo page for some great shots of two very happy dogs.

With all the rain this season, our trout have been growing better than ever before. The biggest fish this year was caught by Madeline, from Central Park in Victoria, when she visited the farm in August. Her trophy trout tipped the scales at 1.415kg! Madeline is pictured above, trying to hold up her big catch for the camera.

There have been many more fish caught which have weighed over a kilo, and a few have come within 50 grams of Madeline's record. Maybe you might be the lucky angler to catch the big one and collect $500 at the end of the year!

Check out the photos page to see the champions of previous years, and lots of other good pics too.
